Renewal of ration card – Insertion of additional slips in the old card from January 1 2013.

Chennai : Insertion of additional slip in the ration card process is going on in all ration shops all over Tamil nadu. This would help cardholders buy PDS items for next one year without any problem. This work will continue till February 27 2013.

The Tamil Nadu State Government had extended the validity of existing ration card for one more year ending December 31, 2013.

Renewal of card, including insertion of additional slips in the old ration card, will be done in all the ration shops in all the districts.

Family heads or any one of the members of the family could visit the ration or fair price shops and renew their card.

They should sign or affix left thumb impression in the supply register kept at the ration shop. Signing the register alone will complete the renewal process, he added.

To avoid rush at the ration shop, the shop in-charge was advised to renew certain number of cards every day. Renewal of card will take place from Monday to Friday of every week.

Those who failed to renew the ration card during that particular week days, could renew their cards on Saturday of that particular week.

List of cardholders to be renewed in a week will be displayed at the entrance of the shop.
