The Name Says NoBroker… But It’s Actually a Broker Company

When I first came across NoBroker Packers and Movers, I genuinely thought this was a brand I could trust. The name itself gave me confidence — NoBroker, right? It sounded transparent and professional.

But my home-shifting experience with them turned into an absolute nightmare.
Hidden charges, unprofessional behavior, false promises, and a total lack of accountability — I faced it all.

If you’re planning to move your home and considering booking NoBroker, I urge you to read this before making that mistake. This is my story — my real experience — of how I got scammed out of ₹XXXXX and left completely frustrated and helpless.

My Bad/Sad Experience – Story

Where It Started

I recently booked packers and movers services from NoBroker. Their sales guy was overly eager to close the deal — calling, texting, following up repeatedly. After some negotiation, I managed to bring the price down to ₹XXXXX, which also included ₹1 lakh insurance for my goods.

He confidently told me that the movers were NoBroker’s in-house team, not any third-party service. That assurance sealed the deal for me. I made the booking and paid the token amount rupees 1000 immediately.

The Shocking Reality on Moving Day (NoBroker Packers and Movers)

On the day of the pickup, my trust completely shattered.
The so-called “NoBroker movers” turned out to be a third-party company called some Movers and packers Pvt. Ltd., based in Hyderabad.

When I asked if they were from NoBroker, they said they were “their partner team.” Later, I realized these were random local packers, probably subcontracted for peanuts  and there is no – NoBroker uniforms, no professionalism. I had to personally use extra cartons for my clothes, shoes, and utensils and they even put the pillows in that carton box which is not at all fair because two pillows covers entire box.

When I checked the inventory, I had listed 19 items online — but after packing, the total went up to 35 items, including my small tree pots and god images and 11 extra cartons provided by them.

They started packing in a hurry — throwing things into boxes, not labeling anything properly, and trying to rush me constantly. In the chaos, I later noticed small but valuable items missing — dry fruits, charging cables, and even a few of my kid’s toys.

I felt cheated, confused, and helpless.

The Hidden Charges and Manipulation

One of their coordinators came up to me and said something that honestly left me speechless:

“Sir, you booked through NoBroker, right? Once you hear the updated price, you’ll never book them again.”

I asked, “Why? How much extra are we talking about?”

He replied — ₹1000 per extra carton.
I was stunned. That meant I had to pay a huge extra amount just for a few additional boxes.

Then he pulled me aside and said quietly,

“If you pay me ₹3,000 separately, I’ll manage it for you. I’ll reduce the carton count in the invoice.”

Feeling trapped and anxious to get my stuff moved, I reluctantly agreed. Later, he billed 35 items on his invoice while NoBroker’s system showed 33 items.

By the end, I had:

  • Paid ₹7,000 “officially” via PhonePe (after sharing the screenshot with NoBroker support as they requested)

  • Paid ₹3,000 “unofficially” to the coordinator to avoid being overcharged

  • Paid ₹1000 to NoBroker via their official link (its a broking charge collected by Nobroker)

  • Plus ₹500 as tips (₹500 each worker)

💸 Total Paid: ₹11,500 (instead of the original ₹7,000)

The same when i checked with local – Packers and Movers they directly said only one charge i’e.. 6k by trusting the No broker i need to pay extra amount of 4500. Actually im not having much items.

And even after all this, I was told to pay extra amount for fitting fans which was already included in the package.

The Aftermath

I immediately contacted NoBroker the next day and asked their representative what the official charge for an extra carton was. He said — ₹300 per carton.

That’s when it hit me — I was scammed.

I told the NoBroker representative not to inform their partner until the goods reached safely, and I emailed a full complaint to their grievance team. But their response made my blood boil.

They said:

“You dealt with the partner directly, so we can’t help you.”

Seriously? I booked through their app, paid through their payment link, shared screenshots on their chat — and now suddenly, I dealt with their partner directly? How convenient!

It was a complete betrayal of trust.

Practical Steps and Advice

I learned these lessons the hard way, and I hope they help others avoid going through the same ordeal.

🧾 1. Always Verify Who’s Actually Coming

Ask for the company name, driver details, and invoice copy before the pickup day.
If they say “partner,” clarify if it’s NoBroker-owned or third-party. Don’t assume anything.

📸 2. Record Everything

Click photos of the movers, the truck, and your packed boxes. Keep screenshots of all chats and payments as proof.

💰 3. Never Pay the Full Amount Upfront

Pay a small token, and settle the rest after delivery and inspection. Once your goods are in their hands, you lose leverage.

📞 4. Communicate Only in Writing

Keep all communication through official NoBroker chats or email. Avoid verbal promises or private deals with “coordinators.”

⚖️ 5. Take Action If You’re Scammed

If you face a situation like mine, immediately:

  • File a complaint at consumerhelpline.gov.in

  • Contact the National Consumer Helpline (1915)

  • Leave detailed reviews on Google and complaint boards

Better Alternatives

Here are some safer, more transparent moving options:

  • UrbanClap (Urban Company): Verified professionals, fixed pricing, and real accountability.

  • Agarwal Packers & Movers / Leo Packers: Established brands with dedicated teams.

  • Local Verified Movers (with GST): Sometimes local movers with genuine reviews are far better than middlemen apps.

(Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with any of these companies. I’m suggesting them based on experience and consumer feedback.)

Honest Warnings, Disclaimers & Transparency

Let me be brutally honest —
NoBroker is not a “No Broker” service. They are a broker company in disguise, connecting customers with random third-party movers and taking commsions and broking charges for every service they provide. Best to avoid Nobroker

The name “NoBroker” doesn’t mean they operate without brokers — they actually work like a broker platform, connecting you to local third-party movers.

Their sales pitch is smooth, but once you’ve paid, you’re on your own.
Their grievance team will only respond with scripted chat bot replies and zero real help.

If you value your time, peace, and money — don’t fall for their marketing gimmicks.

I’m sharing this so others don’t end up getting trapped like I did. Maybe someone at NoBroker will read this too and realize how their system is destroying customer trust.

Conclusion

I booked with trust. I ended up feeling cheated.
NoBroker turned out to be everything they claim not to be — a middleman, a broker, and a poor one at that.

If they truly cared, they’d take responsibility for the actions of their partners.
But instead, they choose to hide behind disclaimers and push the blame on customers.

So here’s my honest advice:
👉 Say NO to NoBroker.
👉 Don’t trust glossy ads or fake promises.
👉 Always research, verify, and go for reliable, accountable movers.

If you’ve faced something similar, drop your story in the comments or share it online — together, we can warn others before they lose their hard-earned money.
